WASHINGTON â€" The George Washington sailing team will compete in its first two inferconference regattas of the season this weekend as it heads to the Nevins Trophy at Kings Point and the Stu Nelson Regatta at Connecticut College.
"The Nevins Trophy at Kings Point is a three division event where we will see a lot of really strong team competing," said interim head coach Catherine Shanahan. "The Stu Nelson is at Connecticut College and it's our first women's regatta of the semester. We have some new women's skippers sailing this semester so I'm excited to see how the weekend goes. At the Stu we will also see a lot of strong teams, many of which we competed against at nationals. For the lineups we have a solid mix of upperclassmen and underclassmen who are all very talented."
Set to sail for GW at the Nevins Trophy are skipper Brendan Shanahan and Kai Friesecke, and crew Andreea Ranney-Pace, Katie Lounsbury, Briggs D'Eliscu, and Connor West. Adam DiDomizio will represent the Colonials in singlehanded competition.
In Connecticut at the Stu Nelson women's competition, Miranda Bakos, Riley Legault, and Aitana Mendiguren will skipper while Belle Strachan, Madison Oleson, Kia Olsson, and Sarah Alexander crew.
Scores for both races can be found here.
