2016 IWLCA Academic Honor Roll
WASHINGTON -- The George Washington lacrosse team has been tabbed an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division I Academic Honor Squad for the 10th straight year and 12th time in the past 13 seasons, the organization announced on Sunday.
To achieve IWLCA Academic Honor Squad status, teams must possess a 3.0 combined GPA or higher. Additionally, three members of team were recognized on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)/Zag Sports Academic Honor Roll.
Rising graduate student Becca Taub, graduate student Jacqui Stevens, and 2016 graduate Cara Dellavecchia, were all recognized.
Taub and Stevens each received the honor for the second time, and Stevens was also selected to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team in the spring
To earn a spot on the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, student-athletes must be at least a junior academically and have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or greater.
The IWLCA honored a record 1,037 student-athletes from 301 institutions across all divisions in 2016, including 354 student-athletes from 96 different schools at the Division I level.
"I am so proud of the consistent level of academic success the GW Lacrosse program has historically achieved," said head coach Tracy Coyne. "The team has created a very positive culture when it comes to commitment to academic pursuits. Cara, Jacqui & Becca have been such positive role models as student-athletes. We had 12 players achieve a 3.5 or higher during the spring semester. It's accomplishments like this that embody the best of GW student-athletes."
