Colin Kennedy and Hannah McNomee of the GW Sailing Team have been named to the Inter-collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) 2015-16 All-Academic Team.
The team recognizes collegiate sailors who have achieved excellence in national and inter-conference competition and excelled at the highest academic level for the 2015-16 academic year.
The criteria for honorees are that he or she must be a junior or senior, have at least a 3.3 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key reserve in at least seven university sponsored regattas. A seven-person committee comprised of representatives from conferences in the ICSA evaluates the nominated sailors, and this year's team is comprised of 146 members nationally.
Kennedy, a mechanical engineering major, holds a 3.95 cumulative GPA and achieved a 3.97 during the 2015-16 academic year. The rising senior has been named to the GW Athletics Academic Dean's List in each of his six completed semesters.
A finance, business economics and public policy major, McNomee earned her degree in May after a stellar senior season in which she earned All-Mid Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association (MAISA) women's skipper second team honors. She helped lead GW to a pair of MAISA championships and maintained a 3.42 GPA during the year.
