Fall 2016 Schedule
Update (7/28/16): GW will not be competing in the Elon Invitational as originally scheduled.
WASHINGTON - George Washington women's tennis is slated to compete in six tournaments this fall, head coach Torrie Browning announced on Wednesday.
Each tournament will feature flighted singles and doubles play leading up to the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships, where the Colonials will compete in a tournament format for singles and doubles.
"I have designed all the tournaments on the schedule to challenge each player," said Browning. "We have some high-level tournaments on the schedule such as the UVA Fall Invite and ITA Regionals that will help prepare our student-athletes for the spring season."
For the second straight season, the Colonials open fall competition at the Elon Invite from Sept. 9-11. The Colonials then travel to College Park, Maryland, for the Bedford Mid-Atlantic Cup from Sept. 16-19.
The Buff and Blue wrap September competition with a pair of tournaments from Sept. 23-25. Several Colonials will compete at the St. Joseph's Invite in Philadelphia, while others will compete at the UVA Fall Invite in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The Colonials then head to Annapolis, Maryland, for the Navy-hosted Blue and Gold Invite for the second consecutive season.
The fall season concludes at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships hosted by Old Dominion in Norfolk, Virginia. The winners from the Regional Championships will earn automatic bids to the ITA/USTA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships in November.
"All of the tournaments this fall are to prepare for the spring season," said Browning. "I am truly excited for the fall, and I believe each student-athlete on the team is going to benefit and grow from fall competition."
