WASHINGTON -- The George Washington lacrosse team dropped a 10-6 decision to Atlantic 10 rival Davidson on Friday afternoon at the GW Lacrosse Field on the Mount Vernon Campus.
Junior Bailey Forcier paced the Colonials with three points on two goals and an assist. Senior Olivia Boudreau also tallied multiple points with a goal and an assist.
GW matched a season high with 12 draw controls and held a 12-6 advantage over the Wildcats with a career-high five from Boudreau and three by Forcier.
Forcier gave the Colonials an early lead, as she found the back of the net just 25 seconds into the game. Davidson got the goal back four minutes later, but GW responded with back-to-back goals by Forcier and sophomore Jocelyn Donohue in a 20-second span for a 3-1 advantage at the 22:25 mark.
The Wildcats, however, scored six in a row to take a 7-3 lead with 9:47 remaining in the half. Sophomore Brooke Sands ended GW's drought with her first goal of the season with 4:19 left to make it 7-4 at the break.
Boudreau made it a two-goal game with the first goal of the second half, but Davidson responded just over a minute later. Neither team found the back of the net again until the Wildcats' Lucy Sexton regained a four-goal lead for her team at the 8:32 mark. Each team scored once more in the final minutes as Davidson took the 10-6 win.
Sophomore goalkeeper Adele Wise recorded seven saves for the Colonials, while Rose Woolson stopped 14 shots for the Wildcats, as GW held a 30-20 shot advantage in the game.
