OPENING DRAW: The GW lacrosse team plays its fifth straight road game to start the season when it visits annual foe Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday afternoon.
LAST TIME OUT: Sophomore Jocelyn Donohue posted her first career hat trick, but the Colonials fell at Monmouth, 14-7, on Saturday. Junior Bailey Forcier also tallied three points on a goal and two assists.
COACH COYNE'S TAKE: "Although it wasn't the outcome we were looking for, there were many positives about our team's performance. Jocelyn played extremely well. She came back in shape and has worked hard all year to improve her overall game. She was able to find the open space against Monmouth's defense and finish her opportunities."
HIT THE ROAD, JACK: Wednesday's game will be GW's fifth straight away from home before hosting Yale for the home opener at the GW Lacrosse Field on the Mount Vernon Campus on Saturday at 1 p.m.
SPREADING THE WEALTH: Eight different Colonials have found the back of the net so far this season, with a five-way tie for the team lead with three goals. Forcier paces GW with five points on three goals and two assists.
HELPING HAND: Senior Olivia Boudreau leads the Colonials with four assists this season and ranks eighth in the Atlantic 10 with 1.0 assists per game on the year. She ranks 10th all-time at GW with 37 helpers in her career.
BETWEEN THE PIPES: Sophomore goalkeeper Adele Wise ranks second in the A-10 in save percentage (.443) and third in saves per game (7.75). She is also seventh in the conference in ground balls per game (2.0), just behind senior Ellie Glasgow in sixth (2.25).
SCOUTING MOUNT ST. MARY'S: Mount St. Mary's (0-4) is coming off a 16-9 loss at Longwood on Saturday. Molly Morris leads the Mountaineers in all three scoring categories, totaling eight goals, five assists and 13 points. Steph Rurkowski has played every minute in goal for the Mount and leads the Northeast Conference in save percentage (.519) and saves per game (13.5).
SERIES HISTORY: GW and Mount St. Mary's have met every year since the Colonials' inaugural season in 2002, and GW holds an 11-3 all-time series advantage with five straight wins. The Colonials defeated the Mount, 18-12, last season as Rachel Mia (7 goals) and Jamie Bumgardner (3 goals, 7 assists) each set program records. Forcier scored a career-high four goals in the game, and Michaela Lynch tallied four points on two goals and two assists. Sammie Knapp, Erin Seipp and Nicole Lantuh each notched hat tricks for the Mountaineers. GW outshot Mount St. Mary's, 30-17 in that contest.
