GW Student-Athletes Volunteer at White House Easter Egg Roll

It's an annual tradition â€" one that dates back to the days when Rutherford B. Hayes resided in the White House. Every year, on the Monday after Easter, the president hosts thousands of children (and their parents) on the South Lawn for the annual White House Easter Egg Roll.
On Monday, four GW student-athletes â€" men's soccer's Tobi Adewole, women's basketball's Lauren Chase and volleyball's Chidima Osuchukwu and Maggie Skjelbred â€" volunteered alongside student-athletes from other local universities, as well as an impressive list of pros in the "Eggtivity Zone," where they encouraged children who were running through an obstacle course and participating in drills through the NFL's Play 60 campaign.
"It was awesome to help the kids and see how much fun they were having," said Skjelbred.
The chance to attend an event at the most famous address in the world was not lost on the Colonials, who were front and center when President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama made their first appearance of the morning. The student-athletes also had the opportunity to take in some of the live musical performances and see a handful of celebrities, including Beyoncé, Jay-Z and U.S. women's soccer National Team starter Ali Krieger.
"Simply an amazing opportunity that I will cherish forever," said Chase. "That's the amazing thing about GW â€" the opportunities you get to be a part of. I was just blessed to be there."
