The Colonials (9-12) have been hot at home this spring, posting a 7-3 mark at the GW Softball Field. GW hosts Lafayette after competing at last weekend's UNC Greensboro-hosted Blue/Gold Challenge, where the Buff and Blue fell in four contests.
Junior Megan Linn leads GW with a .373 average and a team-best 13 RBIs, 17 runs scored and nine stolen bases. Classmate Monica Macchiarulo ranks second on the squad with a .328 average. Junior Paige Kovalsky (.276) sits atop the conference with nine doubles this season.
In the circle, sophomore Sarah Costlow leads the pitching staff with a 5-5 record and a 2.67 ERA, tossing 73.1 innings.
Lafayette (5-8) visits GW after traveling to Howard for a Tuesday doubleheader.
Samantha Sweigart leads the Leopards with a .385 average on the year, while Brooke Wensel (.308) has driven in a team-high eight runs for Lafayette.
Stephanie Thomas (1-5, 3.42 ERA) and Kristy Marinelli (2-2, 3.94 ERA) have shouldered most of the innings for the Leopards in the circle. The pitching staff holds opposing batters to a .270 mark as a whole.
The Colonials swept Lafayette in a doubleheader a year ago as Costlow earned both wins for GW. Senior Carlee Gray put together a 3-for-4 effort against the Leopards, including the first two triples of her career. The Buff and Blue lead the all-time series, 3-1.
Wednesday's doubleheader is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
