OPENING DRAW: The GW lacrosse team visits Mercer for the first time ever on Tuesday evening. Game time at Five Star Stadium is set for 5 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Colonials fell to Yale, 17-7, on Saturday afternoon in the home opener at the GW Lacrosse Field on the Mount Vernon Campus. Sophomore Jocelyn Donohue paced GW with two goals and an assist, while junior Cassidy Shollenberger also scored a pair of goals and junior Shea Cassidy tallied a goal and an assist plus three ground balls and two draw controls.
SPREADING THE WEALTH: Ten different players have found the back of the net this season, led by junior Bailey Forcier's seven and Donohue's six. Forcier has also added three assists for a team-high 10 points on the year.
HELPING HAND: Senior Olivia Boudreau has dished out at least one assist in five of GW's six games this season after recording one helper against Yale on Saturday. She ranks sixth in the A-10 with her team-high seven assists on the year and eighth with 1.17 assists per game. With 39 assists in her career, Boudreau ranks 10th GW's all-time list.
BETWEEN THE PIPES: Sophomore goalkeeper Adele Wise ranks third in the A-10 with 38 saves, and she is fifth with 6.33 saves per game.
SCOUTING MERCER: In its second year of varsity lacrosse, Mercer is 1-4 and coming off an 8-5 loss at Coastal Carolina on Friday. Lindsey Zeltwanger leads the Bears with 11 goals and 14 points, ranking fourth in the Atlantic Sun with 2.8 points per game. Goalkeeper Haleigh Wurzel leads the nation with 14.8 saves per game and ranks third nationally with a .548 save percentage.
COACH COYNE ON THE BEARS: "Mercer is a young program with a new head coach. We are going to work very hard to play an up-tempo game on attack and a stifling defensive game."
SERIES HISTORY: GW and Mercer will meet for the first time ever on Tuesday evening.
ON TAP: The Colonials return home on Saturday to host Old Dominion at 1 p.m. for Kids Day, which will include a postgame clinic and autograph session.
