WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's tennis squad begins a three-match spring break trip to California on Saturday as the Colonials visit No. 64 Santa Clara before heading to the University of San Francisco on Wednesday.
GW (3-4) looks to snap a three-match skid while facing its second ranked opponent of the spring at No. 64 Santa Clara. Sophomore Marie-Louise Decamps has won her last two solo matches, taking wins over Atlantic 10 opponents from Davidson and Saint Louis.
No. 64 Santa Clara (5-4) has won three of its last four matches, including a 4-2 upset of then-No. 39 South Alabama. The pair of Madison Clarke and Chelby Cooke enter the weekend with a six-match doubles win streak at the No. 2 position. Clarke and Banila Farah have won their last three singles bouts, while Clarke leads the Broncos with a 5-3 dual match mark splitting time between the top two spots.San Francisco (0-9) has yet to win a match this spring and will take on Fresno State on Saturday before facing the Colonials on Wednesday. Top solo player Andrea Ka is ranked No. 104 nationally after posting a 6-1 record so far this spring.
GW's match at No. 64 Santa Clara is slated for 2 p.m. ET on Saturday, and first serve on Wednesday is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET.
