Women's Tennis Announces 2017 Spring Schedule

WASHINGTON - George Washington women's tennis has announced its spring 2017 schedule. The Colonials will host seven matches this spring under the direction of head coach Torrie Browning.
GW opens the dual match season at Davidson for a pair of matches beginning on Jan. 28 against UNC-Charlotte. The Colonials then face the host Wildcats on Jan. 29 for the first Atlantic 10 bout of the season.
The Colonials host Atlantic Region opponent James Madison to open home play on Feb. 3 at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (SETLC) - GW's home indoor site. The Buff and Blue then host league foe Massachusetts on Feb. 11 before taking a short trip to Navy on Feb. 12.
GW will then face four consecutive regional opponents, first taking on Towson (Feb. 17) and Morgan State (Feb. 18) at the SETLC. The Colonials then visit Delaware (Feb. 19) and local rival Georgetown (Feb. 24).
The Buff and Blue return home to face A-10 foe Saint Louis indoors on Feb. 25 at the SETLC before the Colonials begin a stretch of four consecutive road matches.
GW visits Liberty for a regional matchup on March 4 before heading to Florida for a string of spring break contests. The first stop is a match at Florida Atlantic on March 14. The Colonials will remain at FAU to face UConn on March 16, then travel to Florida Gulf Coast to wrap the road trip on March 18.
After a two-week hiatus from competition, GW will host Howard on April 1 at the GW Tennis Center on the Mount Vernon Campus to open outdoor home play. The Colonials will take on two A-10 foes the next weekend, beginning with a trip to Richmond on April 8 before hosting 2016 Atlantic 10 Champion and NCAA Team Tournament qualifier VCU on April 9.
GW will visit Temple on April 15 and A-10 opponent Saint Joseph's on April 16 for the final road matches of the regular season.
The Buff and Blue will host George Mason for a Revolutionary Rivalry bout on April 22 as the Colonials close the regular season with Senior Day at the GW Tennis Center.
The 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship will take place from April 26-30 at the new USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida, which is set to open in January. The facility will feature 100 tennis courts, including two 500-seat championship courts as well as a 50,000 square-foot Welcome Center.
