LEADING OFF: The George Washington volleyball team will embark on its final road trip of the season with visits to Rhode Island (Fri., 7 p.m.) and Fordham (Sun., 1 p.m.) this weekend. The Colonials are looking to avenge a pair of early-season losses to both teams.
Both the Colonials and Rams are two games behind Davidson in the win column. The current A-10 standings, as well as a remaining schedule for the final two weeks of the season are available here (link).
LAST TIME OUT: GW split last weekend's A-10 matches at home with a 3-0 sweep over La Salle and a five-set loss to Duquesne.
BALANCED ATTACK: Junior Kristel Moor became the sixth Colonial to cross the 100-kill threshold last weekend and now sits at an even 100 for the season. She joins Chidima Osuchukwu (269), Skylar Iott (195), Aaliya Davidson (185), Loren Williams (136) and Kelsey Clark (127) in the 100-kill club.
It marks the third year in a row that GW has had at least six 100-kill performers.
LEE IS SET: Freshmen setter Jaimeson Lee enjoyed a breakout stretch of matches last week after stepping into the starting role due to injury. She averaged 9.38 assists per set across three matches last weekend with a pair of double-doubles and 13 total blocks (three solo, 10 assists).
She opened the week with 48 assists, 11 digs and six blocks on Wednesday against UMBC before posting 27 assists, nine digs and two block assists against La Salle. She concluded her weekend with a 47-assist, 11-dig double-double with five blocks (two solo, three assists) against Duquesne.
CHICHI ON THE BLOCK: Senior Chidima Osuchukwu, one of the top blockers in the Atlantic 10, averaged 1.62 rejections per set across three matches last week for the Colonials. She enters the weekend ranked second in the A-10 and 18th overall in the nation with 124 total blocks and third in the conference with an average of 1.31 rejections per set.
Osuchukwu has now totaled 146 solo blocks in her career and ranks third all-time on GW's career list. Her 419 career block assists currently rank second in GW volleyball history.
SCOUTING RHODE ISLAND: The Rams are 9-2 in the Atlantic 10 and sit in sole possession of second place entering the weekend after last week's road wins at VCU and Davidson. URI ranks second in the A-10 in hitting percentage (.233) and third in the quartet of kills per set (12.60), opponent hitting percentage (.182), assists per set (11.87) and aces per set (1.47).
SCOUTING FORDHAM: The Rams are just 1-7 in conference play since beating the Colonials back on September 30 and enter the weekend with a 10-16 overall record and 3-8 mark in the Atlantic 10.
Olivia Fairchild ranks second in the conference with 430 total kills to lead Fordham.
