Volleyball's Osuchukwu and Brown Honored with Postseason Awards

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - George Washington volleyball senior middle blocker Chidima Osuchukwu has been named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second Team and senior defensive specialist Maddie Brown earned a spot on the All-Academic Team, the league office announced on Thursday afternoon.
Osuchukwu concludes her decorated career with her fifth career All-Conference honor from the Atlantic 10. She was a member of the All-Rookie Team and All-Conference Second Team as a freshman and a First Team selection as both a sophomore and junior.
The Virginia Beach, Virginia, native finished the regular season ranked 11th in the nation with 154 total blocks. She also ranks second in the A-10 and 17th in the NCAA with 1.43 blocks per set, in addition to a team-leading 293 kills and .325 attack percentage.
She concludes her career ranked second all-time in program history with 444 block assists and a .341 attack percentage, and fourth overall with 1,380 kills and 151 solo blocks.
Brown earned a spot on the All-Academic Team for boasting a cumulative grade-point average of 3.87 as an Exercise Science major. The Cary, North Carolina, native was recognized with an Outstanding Academic Achievement Award from the Milken Institute of Public Health last spring. She is also a two-time selection to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, as well as a Fall 2015 selection to the GW Athletics Dean's List.
The defensive specialist has totaled 347 digs since transferring to GW prior to her junior season and has set career-high, single-match totals in assists, service aces and digs this season.
