LEADING OFF: The George Washington volleyball team will conclude the regular season and renew the Revolutionary Rivalry on Saturday by hosting George Mason for Senior Day at the Charles E. Smith Center. First serve is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
#REVRIVALRY REWIND: GW currently holds a 2-1 lead over George Mason in the 2016-17 Revolutionary Rivalry, the year-long athletic competition between the two local schools.
GW already earned a win over George Mason earlier this season with a 3-2 win over the Patriots on October 14 in Fairfax, Virginia. The Colonials rallied from a 2-0 deficit to stun the Patriots in five sets and were led by a trio of double-digit kill performances from junior Aaliya Davidson (15 kills, 12 digs), senior Chidima Osuchukwu (12 kills, .375) and freshman Skylar Iott (11 kills).
LAST TIME OUT: GW concluded the road portion of its schedule last weekend but dropped a pair of 3-1 decisions at Rhode Island and Fordham.
SENIOR SALUTE: Saturday will mark the final collegiate match for a quartet of seniors that have helped elevate the program to new heights over the past four seasons.
Chidima Osuchukwu, Emily Clemens, Loren Williams and Maddie Brown will all be honored for their commitment, dedication and overall perseverance as Division I student-athletes over the past four seasons. The quartet has helped GW to 69 victories over the past four seasons and 33 wins in the Atlantic 10.
Osuchukwu will graduate as one of the most decorated players in program history. She was a American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America Honorable Mention selection as a sophomore and is a two-time AVCA All-East Region and Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team pick. She has been named A-10 Player of the Week 10 times in her career, including a conference-record six times as a junior. She will leave the program with top-five career rankings for kills, solo blocks, block assists, block assists and attack percentage.
Williams has appeared in 285 sets in her career and has totaled over 530 kills. She was a member of the 2014 Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team after posting 27 kills in two postseason matches, helping the Colonials to their first Atlantic 10 Championship match since 2002.
Clemens ranks in the top-12 in GW volleyball history with over 1,500 assists and has played in 259 sets in her career. She has also posted 16 double-doubles in her career and has set career-high totals in assists, solo blocks and block assists in her senior season.
Brown transferred into GW prior to her junior season and has been a consistent anchor in GW's backline over the past two seasons. She has totaled 339 digs across two seasons and has set single-match career-high marks in assists, service aces and digs this season.
SCOUTING GEORGE MASON: George Mason enters the final weekend of the regular season with a 7-19 overall record and a 3-10 mark in the A-10. The Patriots saw a three-match win streak snapped last Sunday with a 3-0 loss at Rhode Island.
Tiffany Clarke paces five players with over 100 kills with her team-best 286 winners.
