GW Volleyball Swept at VCU on Sunday

RICHMOND, Va. - The George Washington volleyball team continued its current five-match road stretch on Sunday, falling in straight sets in an Atlantic 10 conference match at VCU at the Siegel Center. Set scores were 16-25, 12-25, 20-25 .
Freshman Skylar Iott led GW's attack with a team-high six kills while freshman Jordan Young and junior Aaliya Davidson each posted five kills apiece.
VCU (13-8, 4-1 A-10) held statistical advantages in kills (40-24), attack percentage (.281-.087), assists (37-22), digs (35-25) and blocks (7.0-5.0) as GW (6-13, 0-6 A-10) lost its ninth match in a row.
The Rams used a set-closing 9-3 run to turn a late 16-13 advantage into a 25-16 first-set win. VCU hit .448 (17k-4e-29a) in the frame while limiting GW to a .071 (7k-5e-28a) swing percentage.
VCU opened the second set on a 10-3 run and never looked back en route to a 25-12 win and a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
GW played out to a 16-12 lead to open the third set but the Rams stormed back on the strength of a 13-4 run to seal the match with a 25-20 win.
GW returns to action on Tuesday night with a non-conference visit to Lehigh. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
