WASHINGTON - The George Washington men's and women's swimming and diving teams are set to host Howard on Saturday at the Charles E. Smith Center Pool in dual meet action beginning at 10 a.m.
The Colonials will compete for the first time since hosting Rider on Oct. 8, when the women dominated, winning all but one event to claim the victory, while the men were narrowly edged. GW's women take a 3-1 record into Saturday.
Freshman Jackie Torrez is off to a strong start as a Colonial, earning A-10 Co-Rookie of the Week honors in the league's first set of weekly awards after posting stellar performances across GW's first two meets.
Sophomore Lucy Castro grabbed CollegeSwimming.com's A-10 Swimmer-of-the-Week distinction after tallying a pair of first-place individual finishes against Rider.
On the men's side, rookie Alex Cronin took home CollegeSwimming.com's A-10 Swimmer-of-the-Week honors with two top performances of his own against Rider.
Howard visits GW after opening the 2016-17 season at the Potomac Relays on Sept. 30. The Bison finished in third place on the men's side and the women placed fourth.
Howard returned a pair of top swimmers to the roster for 2016-17 as TJ Miller and KaSandra Kaplan each hold five program records for the men's and women's squads, respectively.
A year ago, the Colonials took men's and women's victories over the Bison.
