Colonial Madness Set for Friday

WASHINGTON -- Join the GW men's and women's basketball teams at the Charles E. Smith Center on Friday night as the Colonials officially welcome in the beginning of the 2016-17 basketball season with Colonial Madness.
The night will be filled with performances, giveaways, a dunk contest and skills competition, and more. Doors will open at 8:00 p.m. and all fans can enter through the main entrance of the Smith Center on 22nd Street, between G and F Streets, NW. Admission is FREE for all.
Both the men and women's programs are coming off championship seasons, with the men having captured the 2016 NIT title and the women entering 2016-17 as two-time defending Atlantic 10 Champions. Graduate student Tyler Cavanaugh, the NIT Most Outstanding Player, and junior Yuta Watanabe return as starters for the men's squad, which welcomes in seven newcomers.
The women return 10 letterwinners from last year's squad, including All-Conference First Team pick and the 2015-16 A-10 Championship Most Outstanding Player Caira Washington. GW also welcomes a trio of newcomers in graduate transfer Lexi Martins (Lehigh) and the freshman duo of Harper Birdsong and Kendall Bresee.
