- The Colonials are off to a perfect 3-0 start in Atlantic 10 Conference play for the third consecutive season. Sunday's victory at Dayton extended their current overall winning streak to eight games dating to Dec. 6.
- Sunday marked a rematch of the 2015 A-10 Championship title game, in which the Colonials rallied from an 11-point deficit to win the title. In Sunday's game, GW was down by as many as 15 points before a 16-1 third-quarter run tied the game at 44-44. In all, the Colonials outscored the Flyers, 23-10, in the third stanza to take a 49-48 lead into the final frame.
- Senior Jonquel Jones registered her 13th double-double in the last 14 contests with game highs of 23 points and 15 rebounds at Dayton. It was also Jones' seventh 20-point game of the season and the 20th of her career.
- Junior Caira Washington became the 31st member of GW's 1,000-point club on Sunday, scoring 17 points in 18 minutes of play. Entering the game needing eight points to reach her milestone, she hit it on a layup with six seconds remaining in the first quarter. Washington also became the 14th Colonial ever with 700 career rebounds with five on Sunday giving her 702 in her career.
- The Colonials won the battle of the boards for the 16th straight game, outrebounding the Flyers, 52-41. A dominating 20-10 advantage on the offensive glass helped GW best Dayton, 17-6, in second-chance points. GW leads the nation in rebounds (52.06 rpg) and is tied with Maryland for the best rebound margin in the nation (+18.2).
- GW recorded 20 assists on 26 made field goals, with six apiece by grad student Lauren Chase and junior Hannah Schaible.
- Jones' 3-pointer with 1:19 remaining in the fourth quarter proved to be the game-winner for GW, as Dayton shot 1-for-5 the rest of the way. Sophomore Kelli Prange provided a crucial block with six seconds left on the clock, and Jones eventually secured the rebound after a pair of Dayton misses in the final seconds to seal the victory - the fourth in a row for GW over the Flyers after the Colonials swept all three contests last season.
- GW is the only A-10 team to beat the Flyers on their home court since the 2011-12 campaign, and the Colonials have won at UD Arena twice in the last two seasons after ending Dayton's 31-game home court winning streak - the longest active streak in the nation at the time - last January.
