GW Volleyball Hosts Loyola (Md.) on Tuesday Night

WASHINGTON - The George Washington volleyball team will play its penultimate non-conference game on Tuesday night when it welcomes Loyola (Md.) to the Charles E. Smith Center. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
GW (9-5) went 3-1 last week and has won eight of its last 10 matches overall. The Colonials tallied straight-sets wins over Georgetown, Lehigh and Bowling Green before falling to Pittsburgh in the final game of the Panther Invitational in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Junior Chidima Osuchukwu was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week on Monday after being named to the All-Tournament team at the Panther Invitational. She totaled 43 kills (3.31/set) and 24 blocks (1.85/set) in the four matches last week.
Senior Maddy Doyle was also named to the All-Tournament team at the Panther Invitational. She posted 63 digs, an average of 4.85 per set, last week and continues to lead the Colonials with 229 digs this season.
Loyola (Md.) enters Tuesday's match with a 5-9 record after going 0-3 at this past weekend's Delaware Invitational. Three players have posted 100+ kills this season for the Greyhounds. Stacey Kazalas paces the attack with 161 kills while Molly Cichosz has tallied 159 winners. Haley Puddy ranks third on the team with 132 kills.
The Colonials and Greyhounds last played during the 2011 season. GW won, 3-0, on September 28, 2011 in Baltimore, Maryland.
Following Tuesday's match, the Colonials will enter Atlantic 10 conference play against George Mason on Friday night at the Smith Center.
GW concludes it non-conference schedule with a match against American on October 21 at the Smith Center.
