GW Volleyball Visits Georgetown on Wednesday

WASHINGTON - The George Washington volleyball team returns to action on Wednesday evening when it visits District rival Georgetown at McDonough Arena. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
GW (6-4) is coming off of a 2-1 weekend at the Kristen Dickmann Invitational. The Colonials posted wins over host Navy and previously-unbeaten Maryland before falling to Texas Tech in the weekend finale.
Junior Chidima Osuchukwu was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week, her third consecutive weekly honor, after being named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. She currently leads the Atlantic 10 and holds top-30 ranks in NCAA Division I in multiple categories including total kills (176, 9th in NCAA), total blocks (57, 6th), points per set (5.18, 15th), kills per set (4.29, 28th) and blocks per set (1.39, 29th). Additionally, she ranks third in the A-10 in hitting percentage (.350).
Senior Maddy Doyle was also named to the All-Tournament team last weekend. The Farmington Hills, Michigan, native ranks second in the Atlantic 10 with 166 total digs (64th in NCAA) and third in the conference with 4.05 digs per set.
Senior Jordan Timmer's 463 assists lead the Atlantic 10 and rank her fourth overall in Division I. She is also averaging 11.29 assists per set, which ranks first in the A-10 and 18th in the nation. Timmer also ranks sixth in the A-10 with 39 total blocks.
As a team, the Colonials lead the Atlantic 10 and rank 17th nationally in team assists (515). GW also ranks second in the A-10 in assists per set (2.49), blocks per set (2.49), kills per set (13.22), team kills (542) and total blocks (102).
GW leads the all-time series against Georgetown by a margin of 35-29. Last season, the Colonials cruised to a three-set sweep over the Hoyas - 25-22, 25-16, 25-6 - at the Charles E. Smith Center.
Georgetown is 4-5 this season with wins over Howard, Niagara, Morgan State and Georgia. Alyssa Sinnette has earned back-to-back appearances on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. She leads the Hoyas with 133 kills.
