GW rebounded in the second set to tie the match with a 25-20 win. The Colonials erased a 7-4 deficit with an 8-1 run to build a 12-8 lead and did not trail the rest of the way.
Maryland opened the third set on a 6-0 run before extending its lead to 10-3. The Colonials would not back down, battling back on the strength of a number of mini runs before eventually taking a one-point lead at 23-22 after consecutive attack errors from the Terrapins.
With the score tied, 23-23, the Colonials got to set point on a bad set, but Maryland tied the match once more at 24-24 on a kill. A kill by Loren Williams put the Colonials back on top by one and an attack error sealed the comeback, putting GW ahead 2-1 in the match.
The teams exchanged points until a tie at 6-6 to open the fourth set, but a 4-0 run by the Colonials put them ahead 10-6 and forced a Maryland timeout. The Colonials maintained the lead for the remainder of the set, clinching the match with a 25-21 win.
The fourth set was the most efficient attacking set of the match for the Colonials, who hit .378 with just five attack errors.

Texas Tech forced seven attack errors and tallied five team blocks in a 25-16 win in the third set to take a 2-1 lead in the match. The Red Raiders went on to clinch the match with a 25-13 win in the decisive fourth frame.
