WASHINGTON - The George Washington volleyball team will open the home portion of its 2015 schedule when it hosts No. 11Oregon on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. at the Charles E. Smith Center.
GW (1-2) opened its 2015 campaign at last weekend's Michigan Invitational in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Colonials defeated West Virginia but fell to Michigan and Oakland in the season-opening tournament.
Junior Chidima Osuchukwu was named to the All-Tournament team after totaling 43 kills across 12 sets over the weekend. She averaged 3.58 kills per set while hitting .258 with 14 total blocks (four solo, 10 assists).
The Colonials are 2-2 in home openers under fifth-year head coach Amanda Ault and hold a 38-13 record at home over the past four seasons.
Oregon (3-0), ranked No. 13 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Preseason Poll, is the first ranked opponent to visit the Charles E. Smith Center since No. 15 BYU on Sept. 15, 2012.
The Ducks opened their season with three consecutive straight-set wins at the Temple Invitational in Philadelphia, defeating Navy, St. John's and the host Owls. Oregon visits LIU Brooklyn on Monday evening before arriving in Washington for Tuesday's match.
GW has faced Oregon just one time in program history, a 3-2 win during the 1995 season.
