GW Women's Rowing Wins Six Races on Sunday

WOODBRIDGE, Va. - The George Washington women's rowing team won a total of six races in two split sessions against North Carolina and Delaware on Sunday on the Sandy Run Race Course on the Occoquan River.
Conditions featured a strong cross-tail wind with significant chop.
The Colonials faced North Carolina in the morning session and won three of four races over the Tar Heels.
The Varsity 8 navigated the 2,000-meter course in 6:33.66 for a four-second victory over UNC (6:37.20).
The JV8 also tallied a narrow win, finishing in 6:41.30 over UNC (6:44.60).
The 3rd Varsity 8 recorded an open-water victory over a pair of UNC boats. GW finished in 7:02.85 while the UNC crews finished in 7:16.75 and 7:35.52, respectively.
UNC won the Varsity 4 with a time of 7:30.20, followed by GW (7:34.20) and a second UNC boat (7:59.90).
GW totaled three wins over Delaware in the afternoon session in the Varsity 8, JV8 and Varsity 4.
The Varsity 8 bested its morning time by five seconds, finishing in 6:28.70. Delaware followed in 6:36.30.
The JV8 recorded an open-water win over the Blue Hens with a time of 6:43.00, compared to 6:59.00 for Delaware.
The Varsity 4 defeated a pair of Delaware boats with a time of 7:25.40. The Blue Hens' two crews followed in 7:38.40 and 8:30.50, respectively.
GW will conclude the regular season at the annual George's Cup against George Mason and Georgetown on April 26 on the Occoquan River. The Colonials have won the George's Cup in three of the last four seasons.
