RESULTS: President's Trophy Women's | Navy Spring Regatta
WASHINGTON - With the MAISA coed and women's championships just two weeks away, GW sailing seeks to round into top form at the challenging President's Trophy Women's and Navy Spring interconference regattas this weekend.
President's Trophy Women's at Boston University
Skippers: India Johnstone, Miranda Bakos
Crews: Gabriella Malek, Meagan Murphy, Kia Olsson
"The President's Trophy will feature mostly NEISA teams, with a few of our MAISA rivals mixed in," said Head Coach John Pearce. "It's our last women's regatta prior to the MAISA Women's Champs next weekend, so we are looking to make some final improvements and be fully prepared for next weekend."
The President's Trophy marks GW's first women's regatta since garnering its first-ever women's national ranking on April 9. The No. 15 Colonials will battle seven other teams from the top 15, all of them from NEISA - No. 1 Yale, No. 3 Bowdoin, No. 4 Brown, No. 7 Rhode Island, No. 12 Boston College, No. 13 MIT and No. 14 Vermont.
Navy Spring Regatta
Skippers: Roger Dorr, Kai Friesecke
Crews: Shira Golub, Belle Strachan
"The Navy Spring is a big national interconference regatta with 20 top teams from around the country," said Coach Pearce. "We have two more weekends to prepare for the MAISA Coed Champs and this regatta is key to building up our momentum."
Among the 20-boat fleet will be seven teams currently in the top 15 of Sailing World's coed college rankings - No. 2 Charleston, No. 4 Stanford, No. 5 Georgetown, No. 6 St. Mary's, No. 9 Dartmouth, No. 10 Navy and No. 15 Old Dominion.
