GW Lacrosse Concludes Homestand Against Duquesne, St. Bonaventure

Prior to Sunday's contest, the Colonials will honor seniors Jamie Bumgardner, Casey Dell'Isola, Mackenzie Jones, Rachel Mia, Rachel Quinn, Allie Rash, Jenn Seitz and Jacqui Stevens.
GW (4-8, 2-2 A-10) was edged by A-10 rival Richmond, 11-9, last Friday. Bumgardner finished with a game-high five points on a goal and four assists while sophomore Bailey Forcier tallied three points on two goals and a helper.
Bumgardner tied former teammate Sarah Philips' all-time record with 101 career assists. She leads the A-10 with 23 assists this season and ranks 15th nationally with 1.92 per game. The Hatfield, Pennsylvania, native is also fifth all-time at GW with 161 career points, four behind Kristin Karcsh ('08) in fourth place, and she ranks third in the conference with 37 points on the year. Bumgardner has tallied at least one point in 11 of 12 games this season and 44 of 45 contests over the last three years.
Mia has scored at least one goal in every game this season and leads the A-10 with 35 goals, tying her career high, while ranking 25th in the nation with 2.92 per game. The native of Millersville, Maryland, also ranks third all-time at GW with 122 career goals and ninth with 127 total points.
Forcier, who leads the team with 18 draw controls and is second with 18 goals, has scored nine goals in the last four games. Junior Olivia Boudreau ranks third on the Colonials with 22 points and second with 20 ground balls, and her 15 assists rank sixth in the league.
Seitz, who has started all 62 games of her career, ranks third all-time at GW with 96 draw controls and is tied with Karcsh for sixth place with 114 ground balls. She has picked up a team-best 21 ground balls this season and also leads GW with 14 caused turnovers.
Duquesne (7-6, 3-1 A-10) has won four in a row, including a 15-8 victory over Saint Joseph's and a 10-8 triumph over La Salle last weekend. Clare Hurley was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week after notching hat tricks in both wins. She is second on the team with 24 goals this season, while Kaelin Shaw leads the Dukes with 25 goals and 34 points on the year. Jenna Bishop has seen the majority of minutes in goal for Duquesne and boasts a 9.84 goals-against average and .467 save percentage.
The Dukes defeated the Colonials, 19-12, in an offensive battle last season at Rooney Field in Pittsburgh. Bumgardner and Hallie Walker each had three goals and an assist while Seitz won five draw controls to lead GW.
St. Bonaventure (2-12, 1-4 A-10) ended its six-game losing skid with a 15-10 win over Saint Joseph's on Sunday and will visit George Mason on Friday before heading to Mount Vernon Field. LeighAnn Stauffer paced the Bonnies with five goals on Sunday, while Mikayla Place and Kaitlin Jennings each posted hat tricks. Place leads St. Bonaventure with 42 points (24g, 18a) and is one of four Bonnies with at least 20 goals this season. Stauffer, who has scored a team-high 25 goals, ranks third in the A-10 with 49 draw controls and also leads the Bonnies with 20 caused turnovers. Goalkeeper Morgan Conroy ranks second in the NCAA with 11.50 saves per game, but St. Bonaventure ranks last in the A-10 in scoring defense (15.93 goals allowed per game) and scoring margin (-5.50 goals per game).
GW leads St. Bonaventure, 10-4, in the all-time series and has won six straight since 2009. The Colonials defeated the Bonnies, 18-10, last season behind five goals by Mia and four goals and three assists by Bumgardner. Stauffer led the Bonnies with four goals and Place had five points on three goals and two assists.
