WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's tennis team opens a seven-match road swing at No. 5 Virginia on Sunday, beginning a stint of five matches in eight days during the Colonials' spring break.
GW (4-3) had last weekend off from competition after splitting a pair of matches at home, falling to No. 46 Harvard after defeating local rival Howard, 4-2, at the Southeast Tennis Center on Feb. 21-22.
No. 5 Virginia (9-2) hosts GW on a four-match winning streak, most recently downing No. 26 Notre Dame on Sunday. The Cavaliers possess the top-ranked singles player in the nation in Julia Elbaba as well as Nos. 27, 32 and 109 to make up the strongest singles lineup the Colonials have faced so far this spring. In the doubles field, GW will likely see UVa's 23rd-ranked duo of Whitney Kay and Hayley Carter and the No. 42 pair of Elbaba and Stephanie Nauta.
Freshman Marie-Louise Decamps has won her last three completed singles matches and holds a spring record of 4-1, while posting a 5-1 doubles record with partner junior Lana Robins. Sophomore Grace Egger stands undefeated in singles action with a 4-0 mark while freshman Teodora Radosavljevic claims a 5-2 record at the top solo spot.
First serve at the Cavaliers' Snyder Tennis Center is slated for 4 p.m. on Sunday. Live scoring for the match will be available here, while live video will be available here.
