Palazzolo's Top 20 Paces GW Golf at Seahawk Intercollegiate

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Freshman Vince Palazzolo posted his best finish of the season with a tie for 20th place to lead GW golf at UNCW's Seahawk Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
Palazzolo carded a three-round total of 9-over-par 225 (71-73-81) on the par-72, 6,916-yard Country Club of Landfall to tie for 20th and register the top finish of his rookie season to date. Palazzolo's 34 pars were good for a tie for 11th in the 78-player field.
GW finished in 13th place at 72-over 936 (310-304-322) in its first appearance at the sixth annual tournament. Campbell (302-282-296) bested the 14-team field at 16-over 880, holding off runner-up Georgia (294-298-293) by five shots, while UGA's Lee McCoy and VCU's Adam Ball shared medalist honors at even-par 216.
Palazzolo's tie for 20th was third-best among the 20 Atlantic 10 golfers in the field, behind only VCU's Ball and Richmond's Matthew Lowe (13th, 7-over 223).
Senior Jack Persons, who tied for fourth in the field with 12 birdies, recorded an 18-over 234 (81-74-79) total to tie for 55th place.
Freshman Zack Bailey tied for 67th at 27-over 243 (84-77-82), sophomore Lucas Farmer placed 71st at 30-over 246 (77-80-89) and rookie Jack Porcelli tied for 72nd at 31-over 247 (81-86-80).
GW will begin the final month of its season next weekend at Seattle U's Redhawk Intercollegiate at Chambers Bay Golf Club in University Place, Washington, the site of this June's 2015 U.S. Open Championship.
