WASHINGTON - The George Washington lacrosse team dropped a 14-3 decision to Navy on Tuesday afternoon on a wet and chilly day at the GW Lacrosse Field on the Mount Vernon Campus.
Junior Olivia Boudreau tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Colonials, while sophomore Bailey Forcier won a team-best three draw controls.
Navy (6-1) netted an early goal at the 27:22 mark, but Boudreau knotted the score at 1-1 just three minutes later. The Mids, however, responded with four straight to take a 5-1 lead before freshman Brooke Sands, the reigning Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, converted a feed from Boudreau to end Navy's run with 8:29 left in the first half. The Mids led, 6-2, at the break.
Navy opened the second stanza with six straight goals for a 12-2 advantage. Senior Rachel Mia scored on a free-position shot at the 8:56 mark for GW's only goal of the second half, as the Mids tallied twice more for the 14-3 win.
Senior goalkeeper Mackenze Jones made seven saves and picked up three ground balls for the Colonials, while Annie Foky stopped four shots for Navy.
The Mids outshot the Colonials, 32-10, and held a 14-5 advantage on draw controls behind six from Loren Generi, who also tallied four points (2g, 2a) and recorded four ground balls. Casey Browne scored a team-best three goals and Katie Gallagher had five points (2g, 3a).
GW (1-3) returns to action on Tuesday, March 10, with a visit to Oregon. Opening draw is set for 8 p.m. ET.
