WASHINGTON - After a stint of five matches in eight days over spring break, the George Washington women's tennis team will play a pair of matches over the weekend, first at Old Dominion on Friday, followed by a visit to the Colonials' second Atlantic 10 rival of the season in Richmond.
GW (4-8, 0-1 A-10) looks to snap a tough six-match slide after facing strong competition on the road, including then-No. 5 Virginia and the top-ranked singles player in the nation. Old Dominion (9-4) has won three-straight, most recently downing Division II's No. 4 ranked BYU-Hawaii on March 12. Richmond (6-2, 2-0 A-10) is also on a three-match winning streak, downing Albany on Tuesday in its last match-up.
Freshman Teodora Radosavljevic has won three of her last four matches, and holds a team-best 8-4 singles mark, all in first-flight action.
ODU's Borislava Botusharova claims a 93rd singles ranking and claims a 15-1 record in her freshman season this spring. All of the Lady Monarchs' losses have come from ranked opponents. The Colonials fell to ODU in their last meeting, 5-2, on Jan. 26, 2013. Then-freshman Lana Robins earned a victory at the No. 2 slot for GW.
Richmond hosts GW without a loss in the A-10, after defeating St. Joseph's and Davidson already this year. Last season, the Colonials downed the Spiders, 4-3, in comeback fashion after trailing, 1-0, after the doubles portion. Robins and sophomore Taylor Nederlander each notched victories in the match. Richmond will visit conference foe George Mason on Friday before the Colonials come to town.
First serve on Saturday is slated for 1 p.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center, while Sunday's action will begin at 12 p.m. at the Westhampton Tennis Complex.
