AUBURN, Ala. - The George Washington softball team was within striking distance of Appalachian State in its final game of the Plainsman Invite when time restrictions halted the contest before the conclusion of the fifth inning with a score of 4-2.
The Colonials (1-3) had smashed two home runs off of the Mountaineers (2-2) when the game was called, one each by sophomores Monica Macchiarulo and Paige Kovalsky.
The contest has been ruled a "no game" as the minimum required number of completed innings was not reached.
GW will travel to UNC Greensboro next weekend for a trio of games against the Spartans.
