WASHINGTON - The George Washington softball team's doubleheader against Norfolk State in the Spartan Classic, originally scheduled for Sunday at 12 p.m., has been postponed due to inclement weather and will now take place on March 12 at 1 p.m. at the NSU Softball Field.
The Colonials (4-7) went 3-2 at last weekend's Citrus Classic in Orlando, Florida, highlighted by a program-first victory over Virginia, 16-9, with a four home run effort by the offense and nine innings pitched by starter and reigning Colonial of the Week Paige Kovalsky. The sophomore tossed her first complete game of the season on Friday in an 8-0 triumph over Marist in six innings.
Kovalsky leads GW in both hitting and pitching, batting .458 with two doubles and five RBIs this season while posting a 1.80 ERA in the circle with two wins, allowing just six earned runs through 23.1 innings of work.
GW will next take the field in its home opener when the Buff and Blue hosts St. John's and Army in the the annual Colonial Classic from March 6-8.
