LEADING OFF: The men's and women's track teams will open their respective indoor seasons at the Holiday Open at Christopher Newport University on Saturday.
NEW FACES: A large recruiting class has boosted both the men's and women's rosters to unprecedented sizes. The women's team added 16 newcomers to bring the total number of student-athletes to 28 while the men's team has four newcomers on its roster for a total of 17 student-athletes.
A LOOK BACK: The women's team produced a pair of Atlantic 10 All-Conference performers last season in its first-ever season of indoor track. Then graduate student Hannah Rowe earned All-Conference honors in both the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters while then-freshman Lauren t'Kint de Roodenbeke was All-Conference in the mile.
CNU Holiday Open: The Colonials will face student-athletes from a number of regional schools including the host Captains, North Carolina, William & Mary, Norfolk State, Hampton, Coppin State, Richmond, Salisbury and Virginia Union.
EVENTS: Both teams will focus on middle and distance events with a trio of runners competing in sprints. The Colonials will participate in the 60-meter dash, 200-meter run, 600-meter run, 800-meter run, one mile and 3,000-meter run.
