A-10 CHAMPIONSHIP FIELD SET: The participating teams in the Atlantic 10 Championship have been decided and this weekend's slate will feature a number of matchups with seeding implications. Dayton has already clinched the regular-season title and the No. 1 seed while Saint Louis is the No. 2 seed. Both teams will receive a first-round bye in next weekend's A-10 Championship. Meanwhile, Rhode Island, Duquesne, GW and VCU will all be battling for seeds 3-6.
ATOP THE A-10: Three different Colonials â€" junior Chidima Osuchukwu, senior Maddy Doyle and senior Jordan Timmer â€" enter the final weekend of the regular season leading the Atlantic 10 in a statistical category.
Osuchukwu paces the conference and ranks fifth in the NCAA with 144 total blocks. She also leads the A-10 and ranks 13th in the nation with 1.48 blocks per set.
Doyle continues to be the top passer in the Atlantic 10, leading the A-10 with both 464 total digs (59th in NCAA) and 4.30 digs per set.
Timmer has 1,151 total assists, a number that leads the conference and ranks 13th in the country.
20-WIN PLATEAU: With two wins this weekend, the Colonials can reach the 20-win mark for the second straight season and third since head coach Amanda Ault's arrival in 2011. In its 40-year history the GW Volleyball program has totaled 23 20-win seasons.
BEST FOR LAST: Maggie Skjelbred is enjoying her finest season in the Buff & Blue as a senior. She has already posted career-high marks of 229 kills and 55 digs and has set single-match career-high numbers of 17 kills (vs. UC Davis), a .636 attack percentage (vs. Maryland) and 17.5 points (vs. UC Davis).
BLOCKING IS BEST: GW has out-blocked its opponents in 18 matches this season, including in 13 of its 18 wins. As a team, the Colonials lead the Atlantic 10 and rank 17th in the nation with 261 total blocks and rank second in the conference with 2.42 blocks per set.
SCOUTING DUQUESNE: GW beat Duquesne, 3-0, back on October 18 in Pittsburgh. Three players finished with double-digit kills, led by Osuchukwu's 16 winners. The Dukes are 13-13 overall on the season and 7-5 in the Atlantic 10. Last weekend, Duquesne split a pair of matches with VCU (L, 3-1) and Davidson (W, 3-0). The Dukes boast a balanced offensive attack with five players that have recorded over 200 kills in Lacey Levers (271), Madelynn Burnham (258), Molly Davet (225), Abbie Trzeciak (202) and Nora Young (201).
A LOOK AT LA SALLE: The Colonials easily dispatched La Salle, 3-0, on October 16 in Philadelphia by using a balanced attack in which four players tallied five or more kills. The Explorers are winless in the Atlantic 10 this season (0-12) with an overall record of 6-23.
