GW Volleyball Resumes #RevRivalry at George Mason on Saturday

LAST WEEK: GW went 2-1 across three matches with wins over American (3-2, Oct. 21) and Fordham (3-0, Oct. 24) and a tough five-set loss to Rhode Island (3-2, Oct. 23).
RENEWING THE RIVALRY: GW will look for the season sweep over George Mason after defeating the Patriots, 3-1, on Sept. 25. Since the #RevRivlary was introduced in 2013-14, the Colonials have won four straight matches against the Patriots. GW leads the all-time series, 36-8.
A-10 STANDINGS: The Colonials enter the match with a 6-3 Atlantic 10 Conference record and are currently tied for third place in the league standings with Rhode Island. Dayton sits atop the conference at a perfect 9-0 while Saint Louis is second at 7-2. Duquesne (5-3) is just a game behind both GW and Rhode Island while George Mason (3-6), VCU (3-5) and Davidson (3-6) will be fighting for the sixth and final playoff spot down the stretch.
DIG, DUG, DOYLE: Senior libero Maddy Doyle was named the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after averaging an astounding 5.15 digs per set in three matches last week. She currently leads the Atlantic 10 and ranks 39th in NCAA Division I with 419 total digs. Her average of 4.32 digs per set also leads the conference.
BLOCK PARTY CONTINUES: GW continues to lead the Atlantic 10 and ranks ninth overall in the nation with 238 total blocks on the season. The Colonials also pace the conference with 2.45 blocks per set. Junior Chidima Osuchukwu, despite missing two matches last week, is second overall in the country with 129 total blocks and 19th with 1.45 rejections per set.
HELPING HANDS: Senior Jordan Timmer's 1,046 assists are the most in the Atlantic 10 this season and rank her seventh overall in the nation entering the weekend. Her average of 10.78 helpers per set put her at second overall in the conference and 43rd in the NCAA.
SCOUTING GEORGE MASON: The Patriots have won three of their past four matches and are in contention for the sixth and final spot in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship. George Mason is led by Morghan Martin, who has posted 269 kills this season. The Patriots defeated La Salle (Oct. 18) and Fordham (Oct. 23) before dropping a 3-1 decision to Rhode Island (Oct. 24) to fall to 3-6 in the conference.
