GW Volleyball Set for Pennsylvania Road Trip

WASHINGTON - The George Washington volleyball team will commence a two-match road trip through Pennsylvania on Friday night when it travels to face La Salle in Philadelphia at Tom Gola Arena on 7 p.m. The Colonials will then travel across the state to visit Duquesne in Pittsburgh on Sunday for a 1 p.m. match at the A.J. Palumbo Center.
Junior Chidima Osuchukwu continues to lead NCAA Division I with 113 total blocks entering this weekend. She also paces the Atlantic 10 and ranks 18th in the NCAA with 1.45 blocks per set and ranks second in the conference (31st in NCAA) with 292 total kills.
Osuchukwu is just 37 kills away from becoming the 13th member of GW's 1,000-kill club.
Senior Maddy Doyle, who recently moved into sole possession of second place on GW's all-time digs list, leads the Atlantic 10 and ranks 53rd nationally with 327 total digs.
Senior Jordan Timmer ranks second in the Atlantic 10 and 12th in the NCAA with 840 total assists on the season. Her 10.77 helpers per set put her third overall in the conference and 47th in the nation.
As a team, the Colonials rank second in the conference in blocks per set (2.46), assists (971) and kills (1,028). GW also is third in both assists per set (12.45) and kills per set (13.18).
La Salle enters the weekend with a 6-15 overall record and 0-5 mark in the Atlantic 10 after suffering a pair of road losses at Rhode Island and Fordham last weekend. The Explorers lead the A-10 and rank 18th in the NCAA with 1.72 aces per set. Their 127 total aces on the season rank 15th overall in the nation.
Duquesne has won three matches in a row, including a win over La Salle last weekend, entering Friday's match against George Mason. The Dukes are 9-10 overall on the season with a 3-2 mark in the Atlantic 10 and have five players with at least 130 kills this season, led by Madelynn Burnham (216) and Lacey Levers (208).
