No. 19 GW Gymnastics Wins Third Straight Lindsey Ferris Invite

WASHINGTON - Freshman Jillian Winstanley won the all-around title as the No. 19 George Washington gymnastics team scored 195.025, with an outright or share of all five event titles, to win its third consecutive Lindsey Ferris Invitational on Sunday afternoon at the Charles E. Smith Center.
GW tied its program record with a 49.225 on vault and added scores of 48.85 on uneven bars, 47.85 on balance beam and 49.10 on floor exercise to top East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) rivals North Carolina (194.55) and Pittsburgh (192.625) along with Cornell (189.20) and Temple (187.275).
Winstanley scored 39.275 to claim the all-around title, the fourth year in a row that a GW gymnast has won the championship at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational. She tied for first place on the balance beam with classmate Sara Mermelstein (9.85) and added scores of 9.825 on vault (T-5th), 9.80 on uneven bars (4th) and 9.80 on floor exercise (T-5th).
GW also earned outright or shares of event titles on vault, uneven bars and floor exercise.
Sophomore Chelsea Raineri had a standout day in three events. She tied for first place with a score of 9.90 on vault, the second time in her career that she has hit that mark. She also tied for first place with a 9.85 on floor exercise and added a 9.70 on uneven bars to take 11th place.
Sophomore Alex DeMoura tied for the uneven bars title with a score of 9.825 and finished in a third-place tie on floor exercise with 9.825.
Freshman Cami Drouin-Allaire, the reigning EAGL Rookie of the Week, claimed second place in the all-around with a score of 39.20. Her score was comprised of a 9.875 on vault (3rd), 9.775 on uneven bars (T-5th), 9.725 on balance beam (9th) and 9.825 on floor exercise (T-3rd).
During GW's strong afternoon on floor exercise, where the team posted five of the top six routines of the day, junior Elena Corcoran also tied her career-high score in a five-way tie for fifth place, scoring 9.80.
GW returns to action on Sunday when it travels to Morgantown, West Virginia, for a tri-meet against West Virginia and Iowa State at 2:00 p.m. The Colonials defeated the Mountaineers in last week's season opener.
