WASHINGTON - The George Washington volleyball team will embark on its first road trip of the 2014 season this weekend when it travels to Harrisonburg, Virginia, for the James Madison Invitational at Sinclair Gymnasium.
The Colonials have not conceded a set through the first three matches of the regular season plus Wednesday's exhibition victory over the Metropolitan University of Puerto Rico.
Last weekend, GW saw three players named to the All-Tournament Team at the GW Invitational as the team recorded sweeps over Arkansas State, Auburn and North Dakota to open its 2014 campaign.
Sophomore Chidima Osuchukwu was named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week and the Most Valuable Player at the GW Invitational after posting 14.0 blocks and 29 digs in addition to 36 kills on a .342 attack percentage.
Senior Kelsey Newman was named to the All-Tournament Team and was also honored as the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week after leading the Colonials with 39 kills, 39 digs a .317 attack percentage and two double-doubles.
Junior setter Jordan Timmer rounded out GW's honorees on the All-Tournament Team after totaling 121 assists (13.44/set) in the three victories.
GW is 14-2 all-time against James Madison (2-2) and has never faced Hampton (3-1) or Southeastern Louisiana (2-2).
