GW (7-3) hit .310 (40k-14e-84a) for the match while limiting Georgetown (6-4) to just 17 kills. Additionally, the Colonials posted an advantage of at least two-to-one in kills, assists, service aces, digs and blocks.
GW, which never trailed in the match, opened the first set on a 6-1 run on the way to a 25-22 victory. The Colonials defense recorded four team blocks in the opening frame while limiting the Hoyas to just seven kills in 28 attempts.
Senior Kelsey Newman rattled off three consecutive service aces to open the second set as the Colonials used a 10-5 run to open the frame and forced Georgetown to use a timeout. Out of the stoppage, GW erupted on a 9-5 run to take a 19-10 lead and would cruise to a 25-16 victory to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
GW's best set of the night came in the third as the Colonials swung a blistering .667 with 12 kills against zero errors en route to a 25-6 win. GW opened the set on a 7-1 run and converted on 100-percent (7-for-7) of sideout opportunities.
The six points allowed in the third set mark the lowest amount of points in a single set by the Colonials since the 2011 season. It is also just the third time since rally scoring was changed from 30 to 25 at the start of the 2001 season that GW has yielded six points or less in a single frame.
With the win, GW has now won six of the past eight meetings with Georgetown and extends its all-time series lead to 36-29.
Freshman Aaliya Davidson tied for the team lead with 11 kills on the night, while committing just one attack error in 18 attempts for a .556 attack percentage.
Newman finished with 11 kills and six digs in addition to a career-high four service aces.
Freshman Christina Porada also contributed to GW's season-high of eight service aces with two of her own in addition to seven digs.
Junior Maddy Doyle led all players with 15 digs while sophomore Chidima Osuchukwu, junior Maggie Skjelbred and junior Jordan Timmer patrolled the net.
Osuchukwu finished with a match-high four blocks (one solo, three assists) while Skjelbred and Timmer each added three block assists apiece.
Sophomore Emily Clemens led all players with 21 assists along with two digs, two kills and one block assist.
The Colonials return to action with their final non-conference tournament of the season this weekend at the Valparaiso Crossroads of America Classic. GW will face Sacramento State on Friday at 4:30 p.m. before a Saturday doubleheader against Murray State (10:00 a.m.) and Valparaiso (7:00 p.m.).
