GW Lacrosse Hosts Delaware for First Time on Saturday

WASHINGTON - George Washington lacrosse wraps a three-game homestand on Saturday when it welcomes Delaware to the GW Lacrosse Field on the Mount Vernon Campus. The first-ever matchup between the two programs is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
GW (4-3) returns to the field for the first time in over a week after earning a convincing 18-8 win over Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday, March 12. Led in scoring by hat tricks from juniors Jamie Bumgardner, Rachel Mia and Allie Rash (4g) and sophomore Ellie Glasgow, the Colonials improved to 4-1 on their home turf and have outscored their visitors by a 74-49 margin this season.
With 38 points on the year, Bumgardner (14g, 24a) paces the GW offense, leads the Atlantic 10 and ranks sixth in NCAA Division I with 5.43 points per game. She ranks atop the conference and is second in the nation with 3.43 assists per game while her 24 total assists is good for third in D-I. Bumgardner currently ranks second on GW's all-time list with 64 career helpers. Rash (14g, 2a) and Mia (13g) also lead the Colonials' front line with 16 and 13 points, respectively, and sophomore Olivia Boudreau (5g, 5a) has contributed 10 points on the year.
As a squad, GW's 12.71 goals per game average is good for third in the A-10 while its ground ball average (19.43) ranks second in the league and 16th in the country. The Colonials are also second in the conference with 14.29 draw controls per game and rank 18th in D-I with 100 total draws. Junior Jenn Seitz leads the team with 22 draw controls and sits second in the A-10 with a 3.14 draws per game average. Freshman goalkeeper Erin Long has made 18 saves in 138 minutes of work and owns a 9.59 goals-against average, and junior Mackenzie Jones has set aside 24 shots in 283 minutes between the pipes and possesses a goals-against average of 11.26.
Delaware (6-3) makes its first trip to GW on a five-game winning streak after defeating Monmouth, 12-6, at home on Wednesday. Reigning Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Week Casey Lyons (24g, 14a) leads the Blue Hens' offense with 38 points on the year while Caitlin McCartney (25g, 5a) has registered 30 points and Chelsea Fay (16g, 7a) has chipped in 23. Goalkeeper Tori Zorovich, the CAA Defensive Player of the Week, has made 37 saves this season and owns a 7.56 goals-against average, and Alex Zaugra has made 23 stops for a 10.38 goals-against average. The Blue Hens are just 1-3 on the road this season.
