TOWSON, Md. - The George Washington men's swimming and diving team fell to No. 27 Towson, 195-74, at Burdick Pool on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Goran Koprivnjak paced the squad with a first place finish and two second places.
Koprivnjak first won the 200-yard individual medley in 1:56.96. Koprivnjak (1:53.48) and sophomore Ben Fitch (1:56.60) took home second and third, respectively, in the 200-yard butterfly. Koprivnjak then finished second in the 100 free in 47.70 and freshman Drury finished fourth in 48.90 seconds.
In the 100 fly, Fitch finished third in 52.70 seconds and sophomore Bogdan Balteanu took fourth in 53.93. In the 100-yard backstroke, rookie Gustav Hokfelt took home second place with a time of 53.73 seconds. Hokfelt (2:00.17), freshman Parker Boutwell (2:03.58) and classmate Clarke Indek (2:03.76) recorded third, fourth and fifth places, respectively in the 200 back.
Drury earned third in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.21, and senior Adam Rabe finished in third in the 100-yard breaststroke in 59.15. Rabe then earned third in the 200 breast in 2:11.46.
Sophomore Liam Huffman finished second in the 500 free with a time of 4:46.74 and recorded fourth in the 1,000 free in 9:50.69. The 400 free relay team of Fitch, Hokfelt, Boutwell and Drury closed the meet with a third-place finish in 3:15.62.
The Colonials wrap the 2014 portion of their schedule at the three-day Patriot Invitation from Thursday, Nov. 20 through Saturday, Nov. 22 in Fairfax, Virginia.
