WASHINGTON - GW sailing completes the fall season with a pair of challenging Atlantic Coast regattas this weekend - the Women's Atlantic Coast Championship in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and the Atlantic Coast Tournament in Geneva, New York.
Atlantic Coast Women's Championhip at MIT
A Division: Hannah McNomee, Jennifer Wilson
B Division: India Johnstone, Belle Strachan
GW qualified for the Atlantic Coast Women's Championship for the second straight year by virtue of their fifth-place finish at the MAISA Women's Championship last month. The Colonials will face an 18-boat fleet that features 11 of the top-15 teams in the latest Sailing World women's rankings, including four of the top five in Yale, Navy, Georgetown and Dartmouth.
"It's great for our team to take the trip up to MIT and race on the Charles River, which is one of the iconic venues in college sailing," said Head Coach John Pearce. "The weather will be cold, but the wind forecast looks good and I think we will get a lot of races in against great competition from up and down the East Coast. This is our second consecutive appearance at the Women's ACC's, and we are continuing to establish ourselves as a strong presence on the national level and one of the top teams in MAISA."

A Division: Brendan Shanahan, Miranda Bakos
B Division: Kai Friesecke, Meagan Murphy
Alternate Crew: Matthew Ricci
GW will be among four ranked coed teams competing at the 15-boat Atlantic Coast Tournament on Seneca Lake along with Brown, Coast Guard and Bowdoin, and look to improve upon last fall's eighth-place showing.
"The ACT's will feature 14 excellent teams from MAISA and NEISA who didn't make it into the Coed ACC's," said Coach Pearce. "We had a very competitive week of racing at practice to determine the starting lineup for this event, and I love the intensity that I saw in the team this week. I think we will be a contender to win this regatta and end the fall season with a bang."
