GW Volleyball Wins Fifth Straight at Fordham, 3-1

GW (20-7, 10-3 A-10) enters Sunday's regular-season finale at Rhode Island in search of a first-round bye in the upcoming Atlantic 10 Championship. The top two teams in the standings following Sunday's matches will earn a first-round bye while the remaining four teams will make up the tournament field.
Sophomore Chidima Osuchukwu paced GW's attack with a match-high 15 kills on a .440 attack percentage with five block assists in the Colonials' second win over Fordham (2-25, 2-11 A-10) this season.
GW opened the match on a 5-1 run and swung .323 (16k-6e-31a) en route to a 25-18 win in the first set.
The offensive momentum carried over to the second set as the Colonials hit a match-high .440, with just three attack errors, en route to a 25-13 win to build a 2-0 lead in the match. GW opened on a 7-3 run before the Rams pulled within two points of the lead at 10-8. The Colonials responded by closing on a 15-5 run.
Fordham bounced back in the third set with a 25-18 victory to cut the deficit to 2-1, but the Colonials retaliated by holding the Rams to an attack percentage of .094 (8k-5e-32a) in the final set, clinching the match with a 25-17 victory.
Three other players finished with double-digit kills as freshman Aaliya Davidson posted 11 winners and the duo of junior Maggie Skjelbred and sophomore Loren Williams each contributed 10 kills apiece.
Junior Jordan Timmer narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with 42 assists and nine digs. She added four block assists and four kills.
Junior Maddy Doyle led all players with 14 digs in addition to five assists and one service ace.
Freshman Christina Porada was on point from the service line, totaling three aces in addition to five digs.
GW concludes the regular season on Sunday afternoon at Rhode Island. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. A win in the season finale would clinch GW's best conference record since going 14-2 en route to the 2000 Atlantic 10 Championship.
