WASHINGTON - The George Washington volleyball team will conclude its regular-season schedule with a weekend road trip with visits to Saint Louis (Fri., 7 p.m. ET) and Dayton (Sun., 1 p.m. ET) with Atlantic 10 Championship seeding on the line.
The field is virtually set but this weekend's conference schedule will determine championship seeding. The top two seeds will receive a first-round bye in the tournament.
Last weekend, the Colonials split a pair of matches with a 3-0 sweep over Fordham before dropping a 3-1 decision to Rhode Island at Smith Center.
Freshman Chidima Osuchukwu continues to lead the Atlantic 10, and rank 43rd in Division I, with a .367 attack percentage. The Virginia Beach, Va., native also leads the conference with 29 solo blocks and ranks seventh with 1.06 blocks per set. She ranks second on the team with 216 kills at an average of 2.25 per set.
Sophomore Maddy Doyle sits third in the conference with an average of 4.15 digs per set and the Colonials as a team are the third best digging team in the conference with an average of 14.26 digs per set.
Freshman Emily Clemens, who took over as the starting setter midway through the season, is having a breakout rookie season. She ranks fifth in the Atlantic 10 with 9.83 assists per set in conference matches, facilitating an offense that ranks second in the league with 12.75 kills per set against A-10 opponents. She also is tied for fifth in the conference with nine double-doubles.
Saint Louis (12-15, 8-4 A-10) carries a three-match win streak into Friday's match following victories over Rhode Island (3-0) and VCU (3-0) last weekend. The Billikens are currently one game behind the Colonials in the A-10 standings and lead the league in team hitting percentage (.226), assists (12.41/set) and kills (13.28/set).
Dayton (12-12, 6-6 A-10) is 5-5 in its last 10 matches and has won two in a row entering Friday's match with George Mason. The Colonials defeated the Flyers for the first time since 2002 with a 3-1 victory on November 1.
