GW Women's Tennis Wraps Fall at ITA Atlantic Regional

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - George Washington women's tennis sophomore Lana Robins knocked off a nationally ranked opponent to reach the singles main draw Round of 16 at the USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional Championships on Sunday, but she ultimately fell in her second match of the day to complete action at Virginia's Snyder Tennis Center.
After dropping the first set, 3-6, Robins fought back to defeat No. 121 Raluca Mita of Virginia Tech, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, to advance in singles play. The Bellevue, Wash., product eventually fell to Virginia's Rachel Pierson in the Round of 16, 3-6, 1-6.
In consolation singles, senior Leah Pascarella fell to Pittsburgh's Katherine Castro, 4-6, 5-7.
GW's run at the USTA/ITA Atlantic Regional Championships concluded its fall season, the team returns to action on Jan. 16, 2014 with a 1 p.m. match at Maryland.
