GW Women's Soccer Visits St. Bonaventure, Duquesne This Weekend

WASHINGTON - George Washington women's soccer hits the road this weekend for two conference matches when it travels to St. Bonaventure and Duquesne. The Colonials first face the Bonnies on Friday at 3:30 p.m.before heading to Duquesne for a 1 p.m. match on Sunday.
After going 1-1 in conference play last weekend, GW (5-3-3, 2-1 A-10) is currently fifth in the A-10 standings. Senior goalie Nicole Ulrick ranks fourth in the league with a .789 save percentage, third with four shutouts on the season and sits fifth with a 1.03 goals against average.
Wallis and freshman Lina Proska have each tallied seven points on three goals and an assist to lead the Colonials' offense. Playing every minute in goal this season Ulrick has made 45 total saves. GW is unbeaten on the road this season with a record of 4-0-2 away from the GW Soccer Field.
Last Friday the Colonials shut-out defending conference champion La Salle, 1-0, after senior Jane Wallis scored the game's only goal in the fifth minute of play. With the victory the Buff and Blue snapped the Explorers' 19-match regular-season conference unbeaten streak, which spanned three seasons. GW then fell to Saint Joseph's, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon, despite more than doubling the Hawks in shots.
St. Bonaventure (3-8-1, 0-3 A-10) opens conference home action on Fridayafter suffering three league losses on the road, most recently falling to Richmond, 2-1, last Saturday. Alyssa Lapp (8 g, 1 a) leads all Bonnies scorers with 17 points on the year while Molly Curry (5 g) has added 10 points. The last time GW and St. Bonaventure met in 2011 the squads came away with a 0-0 double overtime draw.
Duquesne (5-5-1, 1-1-0 A-10) first hosts VCU on Friday evening before welcoming GW on Sunday. The Dukes are coming off a 3-0 loss at Saint Louis last Friday, snapping a five-match unbeaten streak dating back toSept. 13. A.J. Baroffio, Maddie Layman and Amy Vinopal pace the Duquesne offense with two goals and two assists for six points apiece, while Ashley Szalwinski and Devon Tabata have combined for 38 saves and four shutouts in goal. GW defeated Duquesne, 1-0, in overtime in 2011 at the Dukes' Rooney Field.
