The sixth-seeded George Washington golf team earned its first-ever Atlantic 10 Championship this weekend after carding an 8-under par 568 for a new 36-hole program record. The Colonials unseated six-time defending champion and second-place finisher Charlotte by two strokes to earn an automatic bid to regional NCAA Tournament play. Senior Andres Pumariega finished second overall with a two-day total of 5-under 139, including the lowest round of the tournament with a 5-under 67 on Saturday, to earn A-10 All-Conference honors and head coach Terry Shaffer ('79) was honored as the league's Coach of the Year.
