GW Lacrosse Lands Six on A-10 All-Conference Teams

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The George Washington lacrosse team boasted six players - three seniors and three freshmen - on the Atlantic 10 All-Conference teams, voted on by the league's eight head coaches.

Seniors Sarah Phillips and Hilary Quinn were named to the All-Conference First Team, while classmate Megan Seidman earned Second Team honors. Freshmen Addi Bolin, Rachel Mia and Allie Rash all earned spots on the All-Rookie Team.

The sextet helped GW secure a spot in the A-10 Championship for the first time in three years, in addition to posting a 10-6 overall record, making the first time the Colonials have earned double-digit wins since the 2007 season. The group and GW also enjoyed a 6-1 at home this year.

"I am so proud of our senior class; they have all worked extremely hard and have done an outstanding job leading our team this season. It's wonderful to see Sarah, Hilary and Megan honored by the A-10," fifth-year head coach Tara Hannaford said. "Addi, Allie and Rachel made an immediate impact on our program this year, so it's great to see them recognized as well."

The award marks the fourth post-season honor for Phillips, as she was named A-10 Rookie of the Year in 2009, followed by two consecutive All-Conference Second Team selections. The reigning conference Player of the Week leads the Colonials as the program's all-time leader in points (219) and this spring's team points leader with 79 (40g/39a), which ranks second in the A-10 and fifth in NCAA Division I. The midfielder's season points total equals GW's program record for most points in a single season. Phillips also ranks second in the league and 10th in the country with 39 assists on the year. Against A-10 foe Massachusetts on April 1, Phillips became just the fourth Colonials player in program history to score 100 career goals. The finance major was also named to the league's Academic All-Conference team.

Quinn, a defender from Manhasset, N.Y., picks up her second year-end award as she was honored as an All-Conference Second Team selection one year ago. The anchor of the Colonials' defense, Quinn is tied for second in the A-10 with 21 caused turnovers this season. The four-year starter ranks fourth in the conference and 23rd in the country with 62 draw controls on the year, and her career total of 111 ranks her second on GW's all-time list behind teammate, junior Nicole Lacey. After season-opening action on Feb. 21, Quinn was dubbed the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week.

Picking up her first conference accolade since being named to the All-Rookie Team in 2009, Seidman earns a spot on the All-Conference Second Team after leading the Colonials with 42 goals on the season - good for seventh in the A-10 and 36th in Division I. The attacker's 24 assists and 66 points on the season ranks second on the team and moves the Baltimore, Md., native up the record books as she now ranks second in GW history with a total of 133 career goals and third all-time with 180 points. Seidman scored her 100th career goal against local rival George Mason on Feb. 29, becoming just the third-ever member of the century club at the time. Seidman and Phillips are the first-ever set of GW teammates with 100 goals apiece.

Bolin, an attacker from Charlottesville, Va., proved herself to be an offensive threat in her first year with the Colonials as she ranks third on the team with 35 points this season. She registered 23 goals and 12 assists in 15 appearances and three starts. Bolin tallied a career-high six points against Long Island on Feb. 25 on the strength of four goals and two assists. Bolin also won a career-high four draw controls against Richmond on April 6. She posted a .842 shots on goal percentage and picked up 10 ground balls throughout the season.

Mia, a midfielder, saw action in all 16 games with nine starts. The Millersville, Md., product totaled 21 goals on the season on 54 shots and posted an .833 shots on goal percentage. She scored a career-high three goals against Mount St. Mary's on March 19 and picked up four ground balls at St. Bonaventure in the squad's season finale.

Rash started all but two games for GW in the midfield this season. She tallied 11 goals and seven assists to total 18 points during her rookie campaign. Rash ranked third on the team with 23 draw controls while picking up 11 ground balls.

GW visits Richmond, Va., this weekend for the 14th annual Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship, to be held from April 27-29 at the University of Richmond's Robins Stadium.
