GW Gymnastics Scores Season-High 193.925 on Senior Day

WASHINGTON - The George Washington gymnastics team scored a season-high 193.925 on Sunday afternoon against Towson at the Charles E. Smith Center in the final home meet for seniors Monique Blount, Brittany Burnham and Amanda Murphy.
The Colonials scored a season-high 49.175 on the floor exercise, with four routines of 9.825 or better, to go with 48.600 on vault, 48.075 on uneven bars and 48.075 on balance beam. Despite the season-high score, Towson won the dual meet with 195.250.
Junior Stephanie Stoicovy finished in third place in the all-around with 38.500. She tied for second place on the floor exercise with classmate Nefertiti Roy, scoring 9.875. Stoicovy added 9.750 on vault, 9.625 on uneven bars and 9.250 on balance beam.
In her final home competition, Blount rose to the occasion and delivered a new career-high of 9.825 on the floor exercise to tie for sixth place with sophomore Betsy Zander. Zander also clinched a new career-high with the routine.
Blount added a 9.750 on the balance beam to tie for fourth place.
Sophomores Taylor Henderson and Kiera Kenney tied for second place on the uneven bars with 9.725. The score tied Henderson's career-high in the event.
Murphy scored 9.600 on uneven bars and 9.725 on balance beam in her final home meet.
The Colonials return to action on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the 2012 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championships at Pittsburgh's Fitzgerald Field House.
