GW Gymnastics Takes Second at Pitt Quad Meet

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The George Washington gymnastics team competed in its third of six straight road meets on Saturday evening, finishing in second place against host
GW totaled 193.125 for the second consecutive week and posted score improvement on the floor exercise (48.475), in addition to a 48.500 on the vault, 47.850 on uneven bars and 48.300 on the balance beam.
For the fourth week in a row to open the season, junior Stephanie Stoicovy medaled in the all-around, finishing in third place on Saturday with a 38.700. She finished tied for seventh on vault with a 9.750 and recorded a 9.500 on the uneven bars, 9.700 on the balance beam and 9.750 on the floor exercise.
Redshirt junior Monique Blount continued to shine for the Colonials on the balance beam as she recorded a routine of 9.800 for the second consecutive week, putting her in a tie for second place on the event. Blount also added a 9.425 on the floor exercise.
Sophomore Kiera Kenney, a 2011 All-EAGL performer on uneven bars, posted a 9.725 for the second week in a row to finish in a tie for first place on the event.
The Colonials continue their six-meet road swing with a trip to Raleigh, N.C., for a quad meet with EAGL foe No. 23 NC State, along with No. 10 Penn State and William & Mary on Saturday at 7 p.m.
