Senior Heather Stevens finished in 12th place out of 80 runners to lead the George Washington women's cross country team to a third-place finish out of seven competing schools at the George Mason Invitational on Oatlands Plantation on Saturday.

Stevens was the top performer for the Colonials as she clocked in at 23:23.8, nearly a two-minute improvement on her time from last year's event. The senior harrier averaged 6:24 per mile across the 5,870-meter course.
